Famous Words from Famous People - Black History Month, Presidents' Day and the Virtue of Respect. "Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing." "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me...All I ask is that you respect me as a human being." "We must build a new world, a far better world - one in which the eternal dignity of man is respected." "Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed." "We confide in our strength, without boasting of it; we respect that of others, without fearing it." "I submit to you that if a man hasn't discovered something he will die for, he isn't fit to live."
